The CDBS offers a benefit cap of $1,052 over two consecutive calendar years, with the cap amount being indexed yearly on January 1st.

If your child is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), you will receive a letter informing you of their eligibility. To check your child’s eligibility and the available benefit amount at Harrisdale Dental Centre, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your Medicare online account:
   Access your Medicare account to view your child’s eligibility status for CDBS and see the remaining balance of their benefit cap.
   
   
2. Call the Medicare program:
   If you prefer speaking with a representative, contact Medicare directly to inquire about your child’s eligibility and available benefit amount.

When booking an appointment with us, simply mention that you want to use the CDBS for your child’s dental treatment. Please bring your Medicare card so we can verify your child’s eligibility. Our team at Harrisdale Dental Centre will also verify your child’s available benefit amount during the appointment. By doing so, we aim to keep you well informed about the dental services covered under the CDBS and the associated costs before commencing any treatment.

If your child exceeds the $1,052 benefit limit under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) at Harrisdale Dental Centre, the following may occur:

1. Additional costs:
   Any dental services provided beyond the $1,052 cap will not be covered by the CDBS, and you will be responsible for covering the additional costs.
   
   
2. Discussing options:
   Our team at Harrisdale Dental Centre is committed to providing personalised care for your child. If your child’s dental needs exceed the CDBS limit, we will discuss alternative treatment options or payment plans so that your child receives appropriate dental care.
   
   
3. Monitoring remaining balance:
   It is essential to monitor your child’s remaining benefit balance throughout the two-year period. This can be done through your Medicare online account or by contacting Medicare directly. Our team will also help you keep track of the balance during appointments.

Under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) at Harrisdale Dental Centre, your child can claim dental benefits within the following time frame:

• Two-year period:
  Your child can claim up to $1,052 for basic dental services over two consecutive calendar years.
  
  
• Starting the period:
  The two-year period begins at the start of the calendar year when your child becomes eligible and receives their first dental service.
  
  
• Using the benefits:
  If your child doesn’t use the full $1,052 in the first calendar year, they can access the remaining funds in the second year if they are still eligible.

It’s important to note that if your child doesn’t use the full amount within the two calendar years, the remaining funds cannot be used, and you’ll have to wait for a new two-year cover period to begin. Additionally, once your child is no longer eligible, any remaining funds cannot be accessed.

To confirm your child’s eligibility for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) at Harrisdale Dental Centre, please provide the following documents:

• Medicare card:
  Bring your child’s Medicare card to the appointment. This card will help us verify their eligibility for the CDBS.
